Nicholas Willenbrock, Nicola Harries & Rob Sweeney
Nicola Harries is a project director at CL:AIRE and secretary of the Land Forum and the Professional Standards Sub-Group which developed the National Quality Mark Scheme. She also performs secretariat duties for Sustainable Remediation Forum UK (SuRF-UK), SuRF - International and the Joint Industry Working Group for asbestos in soil and construction & demolition materials.
Nicholas manages the development of the Definition of Waste: Development Industry Code of Practice (DoW CoP) – a hugely successful, co-regulation approach to excavated soils reuse. Alongside this, he has developed CL:AIRE''s online ''''Register of Materials'''' which successfully matches projects with surplus soils to those with a deficit. He has also helped foster the International Group of Excavated Materials Reuse Programs – which aims to link soils reuse initiatives in France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Canada to share lessons learnt and development ideas.
Rob is a Project Director at CL:AIRE and manages a number of remediation technology demonstration and research projects and production of technical publications. He manages the secretariat role for the CL:AIRE Technology and Research Group (TRG) and co-ordinates and quality checks all CL:AIRE publications.
What do we do, what have we done and what’s next?
CL:AIRE''''s role and remit has expanded over the last 18 years. CL:AIRE will present its recent work and future plans for its major initiatives and projects including the Definition of Waste Code of Practice and Asbestos in Soils. The session will also showcase CL:AIRE’s plans for collaborating more with industry to strengthen its role as the leading education provider for sustainable land management.
